When Tony was approached by one of his senior foreman, that a friend of his wanted to come work for Retrofit, Tony was hesitant because the friend was working for the county, which meant he held a 9-5 job that required no manual labor. But despite this, Tony hired Troy MacDonald and he has definitely proven that he can handle any situation Retrofit puts him in.
Troy was recently put to the ultimate test. Because of our current workload, Tony was working in the field and was tasked with moving some chillers into their final locations and hanging pre-fabricated piping. This required quite a bit of rigging and assembly, not to mention he had to figure out how to modify some pieces to miss an obstruction, and here was one of the newest team members, Troy, helping him. Tony felt bad putting him in that position, because as he says “It was intense, I was in the zone, and Troy had a lot to learn in a very short time”. Tony was impressed with the fact that Troy did not get flustered, took criticism well, and hung in there. He survived what Tony calls “Trial by Fire” and passed the test. Tony is confident that Troy is on his way to move up quickly and is proud to have him on the team.
